The Arabic mustaqarr (مُسْتَقَرّ) means a fixed stopping place or predetermined end. When exhausted, it will expand into a red giant then collapse into a white dwarf. The sun is running toward a fixed, predetermined end. Ancient civilisations universally regarded the sun as eternal or self-renewing. Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cosmologies had no concept of solar death. The Quran alone attributed to it a fixed term, and modern astrophysics has confirmed this is precisely correct.
