The Sky as a Protected Ceiling Al-Anbiya

Modern atmospheric science reveals the sky is precisely this. The atmosphere provides: the ozone layer absorbing 97–99% of harmful UV radiation; the magnetosphere deflecting solar wind and cosmic radiation; the lower atmosphere burning up 40,000 tonnes of meteoroids annually; and the greenhouse effect maintaining temperatures compatible with life. Without this ceiling, Earth would be bombarded with lethal radiation and temperatures would swing by hundreds of degrees. The Arabic mahfuzan (protected/guarding) works both ways, the sky protects life below and is itself maintained in its protective function. Both meanings align with atmospheric science.
