«We made from water every living thing.» Every cell in every organism is primarily water, human cells are 70% water, brain cells up to 85%. Water is the universal solvent for biochemical reactions, the medium for nutrient transport, and a structural component of cells themselves. Life cannot exist without liquid water. This verse appears immediately after the Quran describes the Big Bang, connecting cosmic origins to biological origins, a sequence mirroring modern understanding of how Earth's water enabled life. NASA's entire strategy for finding extraterrestrial life is literally 'follow the water', because no known life form can exist without it. No observation available in the 7th century could have revealed this: in a desert, life appears to persist without water, and the true dependence is cellular, invisible until the microscope of the 1660s.
